Sports lead in "The Miami Herald"
Serena Williams proved she could deal with Lucie Safarova's tricky shots Monday afternoon, knocking off her Czech opponent 6-3, 6-4 to set up a spicy fourth-round showdown today against top seed Maria Sharapova at the Sony Ericsson Open.
This lead lets us know when this event took place, where it took place, who was involved in it, and who Serena faces next. We were given the score to let the reader know by how much the winner won by as well as how far into the tournament they are. This is lead has proximity because the Sony Ericsson Open is going on in Key Biscayne.

I think this is a very good lead because it gives a lot of information without being too complicated. It summarizes the event and maintains interest of the reader to read on and find out more about the match, or if the reader only wanted the "jist", they could continue on with reading other stories.

This anecdotile lead paints the picture of Serena Williams' dominance at the tennis event recently in Miami. Also, it shows how Serena is the dominant force in women's tennis.

I like this lead. I think it provides a sufficient amount of information while also adding a little flair to it, such as the comment Dennis made about the lead painting Serena as a dominant figure in tennis.

This lead is good, but it might as well be the whole story. If I were reading the paper on this day I don't think I would read this story, not because I don't like the lead but because it gives me all of the information that I am looking for. Withholding some of the results may have been a more engaging way to begin a story like this.

This is a good lead because it told us how Serena played throughout the match. It is antecdotile because it focuses on one person.

Ryan, it is a good lead, but you did not identify it as a multi-element lead.
